So
Who's This Carlton Guy Anyway...and Why Should I Care?
Actually,
nobody special; I'm just a regular guy who has decided to change the
way I make my living. For a long time I generated income the
same
as the majority of working people. I worked for someone
else. And, quite frankly I never felt that I was paid what I
was
worth.
About
10 years ago I started my own service business and it has been
successful. My wife, Catherine, and I make a moderate
living. We have a loyal clientele who value us and our
service.
However,
I'm not a young man and like many people I am concerned about our
future. I certainly have no retirement plan and except for
life
insurance I leave my wife with a business she can't run by herself.
Then
I had a couple of heart attacks and it really made me start looking at things differently. For a while it looked as if I wasn't going to be
able
to return to work and I began exploring alternate ways of
employment. Very limited for an old fart. Sure, I
have a
lot of life experience and a lot of skills. But I'm still an
old
fart.
That's
when I began looking into Internet Marketing (IM). After over
a
year of learning I am finally starting to generate an income.
One
important thing that I learned is that I wasted a lot of time and
energy during that year. Much of that waste was not my
fault. There is a ton of misleading information out there on
the
Web and there are some unscrupulous individuals that are much more
interested in taking your money than actually telling you how to do
this IM business. I felt adrift and it was not very easy for me to find genuine
help. Finally I did. More on that later.
One
very important decision I made at the outset of my pursuit that served
me very well was not to spend money finding out how to build this
business. That was a wise decision. I have heard
horror
stories about people that have spent a lot of money searching
out
the guru's who offer the moon but are short on delivery. It's
true that many of them do give you valuable information but it's
premature. They assume (or not) that you are able to do the
things they tell you to do. But the simple truth is that you
do
not yet know the basics. You find that you can't implement
their
tactics.
Also,
I believe many of these marketers do know that you will not be able to
follow through. The reason I believe this? Shortly
after
you buy their product they begin offering you "necessary"
add-on's. One in particular is the one-on-one mentoring; the
"I
will hold your hand every step of the way" offer. It just
costs... Well, you get the picture.
Now,
the mentor idea is very appealing. You simply have to ask if
you
have a question. It reduces the amount of work you have to do
on
your own to find the answer to a problem. But, if the mentor
is
any good this typically costs quite a bit of money. And one
of
the things most people want when starting up a Web business is low cost.
I
mentioned that I found genuine help. I found it
through a
free offer. A simple eBook which taught me how to create a
website. I had been trying to learn this skill for quite a
while
and having little success.
I
applied what I learned in the eBook. It had real value and
useful
content. Also, after about a week I started receiving weekly
emails that also had useful content. All free and no push to
buy
anything.
After
coming to realize that I was receiving genuine help I joined a
membership. I have, as they say, never looked back.
The
site is Chris Farrell Membership. The content is truly
awesome. I feel that if a person can't get an on-line
business
going with the support of this site than he probably isn't either
trying or cut out for Internet Marketing.

What
you need to succeed as an Internet
Marketer.
I
am in this business to succeed. I
am, as you may know, new to this business of Internet Marketing (IM). I
am learning the in's and out's of the business. Naturally, you
need to know the nut's and bolt's of how to market on line.
I
have spent this past week working
very hard on getting my site up and running. It has not been what I
would call hard work but it has been exhausting. Why? Because of
the learning curve. Perhaps learning cliff would be a better
description.
I
did accomplish what I set out to do. But it took a lot more time than I
expected. In the process I also
learned some important aspects of this business that are going to
serve me well as I progress. I learned a few things about what I
need to succeed. Let me tell you about two of them.
Not
everything went as well as I would
have liked. I thought I knew more than I did. There were a couple
of times when I seriously thought about throwing in the towel. But I
didn't. I just adopted a bulldog attitude and resolved the problems. Major Lesson One of What I need to succeed as an IM: Don't
Quit.
If
I had thrown my hands up in despair
I would have not reached my goal. I could have fallen victim to the
97% who fail in this business.
Part
of how I resolved some of my
problems getting my site on line this week was by using resources at
my disposal. I am a member of the Chris Farrell Membership site. Now
the material provided by Chris is invaluable. I already knew
that. But this week I discovered how valuable the forum on the site
is. As one forum member said today in a post, “Chris, I think
there is as much valuable information on the forum as in the
membership site.” Many of the members are seasoned veterans of
this business and are very generous in answering questions that are
posted to the forum. It is like having a collective mentor. I had
several questions that were holding back my progress answered by site
members this week.
Major Lesson Two of What I
Need to Succeed as an IM: Have a resource that can get you through
the inevitable patches of rough road.
I
am coming to appreciate how valuable
my membership at Chris Farrell's Membership site is. I honestly
don't know where I would be without it.
